Katie Couric spoke out against anti-Muslim bigotry and said America may need a Muslim version of "The Cosby Show" to counteract it.
Speaking on her web show, Couric said that the controversy surrounding the Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero had exposed a "seething hatred" for Muslims in America:
"I also think sort of the chasm between, or, the bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface this year. Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn't enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong--and so disappointing."
She then said that she thinks there may need to be a Muslim version of "The Cosby Show."
"'The Cosby Show' did so much to change attitudes about African-Americans in this country, and I think sometimes people are afraid of what they don't understand," she said.

Assalamulaikum:
My sentiments exactly. Kinda shows you how naieve and ignorant Americans are. The question is, do you think that Muslims living in the West would prefer it, support it, endorse it, write for it, act in it, and make monkeys out of themselves like Bill Cosby? To this day he still blames blacks for their own plight, ignoring the structural racism in America, the high rates of incarceration, the long term effects of colonialism and slavery. It's uprooting of culture, breaking up of family and then the few that make it out of the ghetto start to point their fingers at other African Americans as if there is something wrong with them??? Malcolm put it nicely in his field nigga and house nigga speech.
I think you misunderstand the post - perhaps contemplate on who hip hop really serves... I saw a good Spike Lee movie once called Bamboozled....
You see every other ideology, all other so-called "natural, indigenous" societies can be uprooted, but Islam remains and ultimately it gets victory.... This post was to try to show how down right ignorant many can be. It was to try to make viewers understand a bit of the nature of this war which ultimately is against the shaytan...
Katie Couric, that homo she was talking to, and Barack Obama are not smart enough to concoct an ideological war against Islam... they think they are good people like many Muslims do... When you realize you are fighting the shaytan when trying to understand them, then you have a proper understanding of the war you are fighting. When you think you are fighting against Katie Couric, then you have no chance to fight against yourself.
I do not know why you resent us. There is much original commentary here documenting the ways we can strengthen ourselves. Pleas be patient with your brothers akhi... we are on your side and fitnah from amongst us, so, so few of us allows the shaytan to win.... I love you for the sake of Allah...
Brother Younus
